QUAZIABAD-XI DEFEATS KOHRO-XI

Bating first after winning the toss, QUAZIABAD-XI put a formidable total of 148 runs on board in allotted 20 overs.

In pursuit of 148 runs, Khoro-XI was never in the hunt as they lost wickets at regular intervals. None of their batsmen was able to put a decent show with the willow as they lost the match by 88 runs.

Khelo-India Scheme in collaboration with Kupwara Sports Society was earlier inaugurated in Kupwara by District Administration in collaboration with Youth Service & Sports kupwara

Approximately 60 cricket teams from different zones including, Langate, Handwara and Qulamabad of Kupwara are taking part in the competition.

The cricket tournament has completed its first round in all zones of Kupwara. The winning teams will have to face each other in the second round to maintain their position.

Sports officer Kupwara said that Khelo-India competitions are being conducted not only to promote sports at grass-root level but also to help create sports infrastructure in the state.

A large number of youngsters from different villages of Kupwara are taking part in the tournament.

In the first round, Ganapora club defeated Kohoro X1 by 88 runs, while Phorupeeth defeated LangateX1.

The tournament is being played with the underlying theme of ‘Sports for Peace and Development’ under Khelo-India scheme. The tournament is meant to promote and encourage sports activities in the district under Corporate Social Responsibility, said organization Incharge Mohd Maqbool.

Rameez Raja was declared man of the match. Rameez Raja scored 35 runs and managed to bag 4 wickets.
