Ex-servicemen rally held at BB Cantt

Srinagar, 23 Sep: To commemorate the ‘Year of Disabled in Line of Duty’ and to reach out to the ex-servicemen fraternity of the Valley as well as address their grievances, an Ex-Servicemen Rally was organised at Badami Bagh Cantonment on Sunday which was attended by over 300 ex-servicemen including disabled soldiers and Veer Naris.

In a statement issued here, a defense spokesman said, “The Rally was addressed by Lt Gen AK Bhatt, GOC, Chinar Corps who reaffirmed the resolve of Chinar Corps towards espousing welfare and well-being of the Veterans and Veer Naris. The GOC also saluted the unprecedented sacrifices made by the Veterans in making immense contributions towards security of the Nation.”

“He highlighted various projects and schemes for their benefit and also informed about the coordination and synergy with the Government of J&K for the welfare of Ex-servicemen. The Chinar Corps Commander also unveiled a first of its kind Compendium covering various welfare schemes and benefits available to ex-servicemen and their families which was distributed to all the Veterans and Veer Naris at the Rally,” reads the statement.

“Felicitation of disabled soldiers and Veer Naris was an event marked by pride and poignant memories. Disabled Soldiers and their dependents were provided with transport and medical equipments to make them self-reliant. Wards of Veterans excelling in various fields were also felicitated to motivate them in achieving greater glory,” it said.

“The Veterans and Veer Naris were then guided to various stalls and others facilities established at the venue for their benefits. These included stalls related to individual pension grievances, medical checkup, treatment and medication and career progression of their wards. At the end, the Chinar Corps Commander interacted with the Veterans and Veer Naris and assured his full support towards their welfare and well being,” the statement added.
