The equipments that are missing from the cable office include laptops, mobile phones, set-top box and hard drive, they added.

Sources said that army raided the cable office only to seek footage of Muharram processions in which freedom slogans were raised.

They said that army men from the nearby camp were seeking a video footage in which pro-Kashmir slogans were raised by the Shia Muslims.

The incident sparked outrage among locals of Budgam. “Where is the freedom of speech and expression?” They questioned.

Others said that at least forces should not have resorted to night raid during Ashura night.

Meanwhile, according to locals, it is after a long time that there has been a night raid in Budgam Township.

When contacted Station House Officer Budgam, Rafi Shah, he said, “They (Army) have not taken anything from the cable office. It was a normal exercise.”

Meanwhile, senior Hurriyat leader and President Anjuman Sharie Shian, Aga Syed Hassan Al-Mosvi Al-Safvi condemned army’s late night raid on the local cable office.

He said that by taking away equipments from the cable office, the voice of people cannot be suppressed
