Pulwama, Sep 17: Sikh residents of Sadipora Pulwama village have complained of facing a tough time due to acute shortage of drinking water in their area.

Sikh residents alleged that Public Health Engineering (PHE) is not paying any heed to solve the scarcity of drinking water which is being faced by more than 100 Sikh families here.

“The drinking water, earlier, was supplied through Dangarpora-Sadipora pipeline to our village but the supply was stopped as the water was sandy and unhygienic for consumption,” said a local, Iqbal Singh.

Another resident, Jasbir Singh, told Kashmir Images that during CM darbar, last year, the then CM Mehbooba Mufti had allotted 35 lakhs in presence of then Exn PHE for drilling of borewells in the Sikh locality. “We have visited Deputy Commissioner Pulwama’s office several times requesting the authorities to locate a site for digging borewells, but to no avail,” he added.

When contacted Deputy Commissioner Pulwama, Gh Mohammad Dar, he said, “I have taken cognizance of their grievance and it will be addressed shortly.”
