Pattan protest against proposed shifting of SDH Pattan to Trauma hospital building

Baramulla:  Amid complete shutdown, protest demonstrations were held in Pattan town of north Kashmir’s Baramulla against the proposed shifting of old hospital to the new trauma hospital building on Thursday.

Witness said due to strike call by Traders Federation Pattan, all shops and business establishments remained closed in the town while the business community staged a protest against Block Medical Officer Pattan and the health department for  shifting of SDH Pattan to new trauma hospital building meant for road mishaps and emergencies.

While talking to media, president Traders Federation Pattan Sajad Ahmad Qadri said that federation will not allow anybody to shift Sub District Hospital into the new Trauma hospital.

“Trauma is for another purpose to tackle accidental cases on highway so SDH should not be shifted into trauma hospital,” Sajad Ahmad Qadri.

Meanwhile protesters blocked National highway for hours and later restored it only after the assurance of SDM, Tehsildar and SHO Pattan that hospital won’t be shifted

Due to the protest, the Srinagar-Baramulla highway at Pattan witnessing massive traffic jam.

When traders in Pattan were protesting at Pattan market, employees of SDH Pattan staged protest at SDM  office Pattan.

Employees of SDH Pattan were urging the authorities to make the Truma hospital  functional immediately as they  are suffering lots of problems in SDH Pattan.
