Srinagar: Srinagar police have arrested five gamblers and recovered stake money of rupees 12,820 from the gambling site.

A police party of Police Station Khanyar headed by SHO Khanyar raided a gambling site near Dastageer Sahib Khanyar. During the raid five gamblers were arrested and stake money of rupees 12,820 was recovered from the gambling site, said a statement issued by police today.

A case FIR number 73/2018 under relevant sections of law has been registered and investigation has been taken up.

In yet another development, Srinagar police arrested a drug peddler and recovered 120 bottles of codeine phosphate from his possession.

A police party of Police Station Lalbazar headed by SHO Lalbazar laid a naka in their jurisdiction. During naka checking, one person identified as Bilal Ahmad Dar @Bilal Mindi son of Ghulam Nabi Dar resident of Soura 90 feet was intercepted. On checking, 120 bottles of codeine phosphate were recovered from his possession, said the statement.

A case FIR number 65/2018 under relevant sections of law has been registered and investigation has been taken up.
