Sopore, Sep 11: Suspected militants on Tuesday lobbed two towards Army’s 22RR camp house in the Ganjoo House in Sopore town of north Kashmir.

According to the reports, militants lobbed two back to back UBGL shells towards the camp at around 12:30 pm which created panic in the area as pedestrians rushed towards safer places while shopkeepers downed their shutters.

A police official in Sopore told ‘Kashmir Images’ that two army soldiers received multiple injuries in the attack. He identified the injured as Sepoy Sangpal and Naik Jai Singh who were shifted to 10 Sector Pattan for treatment and later were referred to Srinagar 92 Base Hospital for advanced treatment.

He further said soon after the incident the whole area was cordoned off and a massive search operation was launched to nab the attackers.

According to the eyewitnesses, after the attack, some students of Degree College Sopore assembled Iqbal Market and started pelting stones on government forces.

“Two persons were injured in the stone pelting incident. They were identified as Jamsheda Akhtar (26) and Asrar Ahmad (2), who were later shifted to Sopore hospital for treatment,” they added.

Meanwhile, militants on Tuesday evening lobbed a grenade at Police Station Pattan in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.

However, there was no report of any injury.

Reports said that the grenade was hurled at Police Station Pattan that exploded with a bang.

They said that the forces cordoned off the area soon after the attack to nab the militants.
