Tral, Sep 06: Government forces on Thursday launched a cordon-and-search-operation in Gole Masjid area of Tral in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district.

The Goal Masjid area is located near the Martyrs’ graveyard of Eidgah locality that houses the grave of Hizb-ul-Mujahideen commander Burhan Muzaffar Wani.

Reports said the forces had stationed vehicles outside the martyrs’ graveyard.

Army’s 42 Rashtriya Rifles, Jammu and Kashmir police and 180 Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) had jointly launched the operation.

A senior police official said that area was cordoned off after specific inputs about the presence of two to three militants.

However, the operation was called off after no contact was established with any militants.
