Baramulla: Terming the Rafale deal a large scale scam, Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) on Thursday held protest demonstration against Modi government alleging that Modi Govt will continue to remain as the main source behind disillusionment among the masses in the country.

Senior party leaders, workers of north Kashmir assembled at party headquarter in Baramulla and took out a protest rally towards Deputy Commissioner Office Baramulla.

The protesters said the Modi government violated the Defence Procurement Procedure (DPP) and bypassed the interests of PSU Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL).

Demanding probe into the Rafale deal, protesting party leaders later submitted a memorandum to the President of India through Deputy Commissioner Baramulla Dr Nasir Ahmad Naqash.

The protest march headed by Party Vice President Ghulam Nabi Moonga, Congress MLA for Sopore Abdul Rashid, District President Congress Shoaib Nabi Lone, Senior Congress leader Altaf Malik besides large number of party workers participated.

The Congress workers and leaders lodged a strong protest against the policies of the BJP Govt, blaming the Centre Govt for rampant corruption in defence deals.

Speaking on the occasion Haji Ab. Rashid Dar said the hike on the rates of essential items have pushed the people to the wall, as the Centre Govt failed to contain the price hike.

Talking with Media Vice President, Congress Party Ghulam Nabi Moonga accused the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government “misled” the nation by quoting “illogical and imaginary data”.

Replying a question on National Conference’s statement for boycotting upcoming panchayat and municipal election, Monga said that Congress Party since beginning are supporting Article 35 A and had also submitted written report to the Governor for the sufeguard of Article 35A.

Moonga said that our higher authorities have not decided on election row yet. He, however, added that for conducting elections, situation should be peaceful.
