Baramulla, Sep 02: A minor girl missing for past ten days was found dead in a forest area in Uri tehsil of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Sunday, police said.
An official said that Muskan Jan (9), daughter of Mushtaq Ahmed Ganai of Lari Trikajan Boniyar, went missing from her home on August 23.
Reports said a local woman who had gone to the forest area to fetch timber spotted her decomposed body under a pine tree today.
“She informed the family and local villagers who later informed police. A police team joined by a medical team visited the spot. The body was brought to Boniyar hospital for medico-legal formalities and later handed over to the family for last rites,” sources said.
A police official said that a police team accompanied by FSL team was deputed to the area. “Cause of death could not be ascertained but it seems a case of murder. The medical opinion would establish the cause of death,” said a police official.
