Course on communication skills concludes at SKPA Udhampur

JAMMU, SEPTEMBER 01: A week long course on ‘Developing Good Communication Skill, Behavior Attitude and Responsibilities towards General Public organized by Sher-e-Kashmir police academy Udhampur   concluded here today.

The course was inaugurated by Director of the Academy Mohammad Sulaiman Salaria, in which 29 officers of J&K Police of the rank of Inspector and Dy.Supdt and Superintendent of Police participated.

The objective of the training course was to identify salient aspects of communicating behaviour which can affect the police officers professionally and personally; to describe core interpersonal communication skills (verbal & non-verbal) which can be used effectively in analyzing the public needs and to ensure better policing services and to discuss scope of using Interpersonal communication skills in overcoming socio-cultural barriers (gender, cultural, ethnicity, language).

During the course eminent speakers delivered lectures on the subject who included Dr. Pallavi Sachdeva, Asstt. Professon, Jammu University, Dr. Nilika Arora, Asstt. Proffesson, Central University Jammu, Dr. Rashi Taggar, Asstt. Professor, SMVDU, Dr. Sapna Sangra, Asstt. Professor, Jammu University, Dr. Samantha Sharma, Asstt. Professor, SMVDU, Dr. Madhu Mangal Chaturvedi, Asstt. Professor, SMVDU, Dr. Anil Gupta, Asstt. Professor, Jammu University, Dr. Rouchi Choudhary, Asstt Professor, Central University Jammu, Dr. Paul Sughandhar, Asstt Professor, Central University Jammu, Dr. Jagann Nathan, Asstt. Professor, Central University Jammu. Dr. Quleen Kaur Bijral, Asstt. Professor, IIT Jammu and Ms. Swati Basotra, visiting faculty, IIT Jammu.

The speakers interacted with the participating officers on the host of topics including communication, barriers to effective communication & measures to overcome them, time management, effective gender sensitization, professional ethics, human behaviour, effective communication & role of police, self awareness, stress management, building bonds, lateral thinking skills for police professionals and managing change in the police organization.

In a health discussion, the concepts of communication and its different aspects were cleared. The delivery was engaging, energetic, interactive and educational. Terrific case study and role plays were demonstrated. The objective with which the course was organised was met with.

The valedictory function was attended by Director of SKPAU Mohammad Sulaiman Salaria.

The course was coordinated by   Kamal Sharma, CPO with course secretary   Ritu Bharti, PO   in close coordinate with Asstt. Director (Admn.)   Stenzin Narboo   SSP and Assistant Director (Outdoor),  Randheer Singh,   SSP.
