Srinagar: Court of Second  Additional Sessions Judge  Srinagar has framed charges against an alleged drug peddler in a case under FIR 29 of 2018 section 8/20, 29 NDPSA by police station Shaheed Gunj Srinagar.

Police in their report submitted to the said court that the accused, Irshad Ahmad Sheikh, hailing from Mehboob Colony, Nowgam, was apprehended on March 21 by a patrol party of the Shaheed Gunj police station near Jahangir Chowk.

On searching him, the police stated to have recovered 510 gm of charas from him and co-accused Gulzar Ahmad Sheikh, a resident of Shopian in south Kashmir.

Subsequently, on receipt of the docket, a case under Section 8/20 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (NDPSA) was registered against the accused at the police station concerned and investigation taken up.

Counsel for accused Adil Abdullah has conceded the charge and pleaded before the court that accused may be charged under 20 B NDPSA as the quantity shown recovered is intermediate.

The court charged both the accused under 20 B NDPS.
