Srinagar, Aug 14: JKLF chairman Muhammad Yasin Malik on Tuesday said that he is ready for any amount of public scrutiny and accountability.

He was reacting to a recent notice issued by Enforcement Directorate (ED) against him.

“If anyone proves any property in my name other than what I have inherited from my parents, I will publicly apologise and bid good bye to politics,” Malik said in a statement issued here.

It is pertinent to mention that ED has issued a fresh notice to Malik, Mushtaq Ahmad Dar and his wife and asked them to present themselves before it on 5th or 6th of September, 2018.

Terming this notice as part of “Indian ploy to intimidate resistance camp” in Jammu and Kashmir, JKLF chairman said “these farce cases are framed and run to settle political vendetta, threaten political resistance and force people to submission on gun-point”.

He said that the case that has been referred to in ED notice is of March 2002 when “a theater was orchestrated” and he was arrested from Srinagar and immediately shifted to Jammu. He said that he was tortured and put behind the bars under black law POTA.

He said POTA court granted him bail and the case is pending before the said court from last 16 years and regular hearings are being held on monthly basis. “…but a parallel trial is being initiated from ED in the same case which is in itself a mockery of justice and legal system.”

JKLF chairman said that rulers have for long been “trying to portray the sacred struggle of Kashmiris as a means to accumulate money, make fortunes and as being a sponsored struggle.

“We want to tell them that freedom struggle is our passion and romanticism and we are ready to sacrifice our lives for this cause. But the rulers cannot understand the psyche of freedom lovers as they even during freedom struggle of India chose to side with the British occupation and not with the people fighting for freedom,” he said.
