Blast at Tosamaidan leaves one person dead, two injured

Budgam, Aug 12: A youth among the three persons injured in an explosion at Tosamaidan in Khag area of central Kashmir’s Budgam district succumbed to injuries at SKIMS Soura on Sunday.

The deceased has been identified as Wajid Bashir Ahanger of Zago Khareen, Beerwah.

Three persons including Wajid, Mudasir Ahmad Ganie and Waseem Ahmad Ganie, all residents Zagoo Kharein area of Khansahab Budgam, had suffered injuries after a shell exploded in Tosamaidan.

SSP Budgam Tejinder Singh confirmed the death of the youth and said that police has taken cognizance of the incident.

Deputy Commissioner Budgam, Sehrish Asgar, according to GNS said a fresh advisory has been issued and people are requested not to fiddle with any shell or other suspected object lying in the area.

“We made announcements in local mosques and other places adjoining Tosamaidan and have urged people not to touch or fiddle with any suspected object in the area,” said Asgar.

The Deputy Commissioner said that a fresh clean-up drive will be taken up soon to check for any explosive devices in the area.
