Srinagar: Real Kashmir Football Club (RKFC) will begin its Indian Football League (IFL) 2026-27 campaign against Nagaland United FC at the TRC Ground in Srinagar on Friday.
The opening match is scheduled to kick off at 6:30 pm under floodlights.
RKFC head coach Ishfaq Ahmad described Nagaland United as a good opponent despite the club making its debut in the IFL. He said his team was prepared for the challenge and hoped to secure a positive result in front of the home crowd.
The club said arrangements for the fixture had been made with support from the administration, including the Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council and J&K Police.
RKFC owner Arshad Nizam Shawl said the club aimed to create opportunities for young footballers from Kashmir and provide a platform for local talent to compete at a higher level.
He thanked Commissioner Secretary, Youth Services and Sports, Sarmad Hafeez, and J&K Sports Council Secretary Tazayun Mukhtar for their support in promoting football and nurturing young players in the region.
Real Kashmir, the only club from Jammu and Kashmir participating in the league, has urged football fans to attend the opening fixture and support the team.
The IFL, formerly known as the I-League, is entering its 2026-27 season.
