SRINAGAR: Authorities have imposed restrictions on the movement of goods carriers on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (NH-44) on October 31 and November 1 to facilitate the smooth movement of the Secretariat employees’ convoy from Srinagar to Jammu for the biannual Darbar Move.

According to the traffic advisory, the upward movement of heavy motor vehicles (HMVs) and medium motor vehicles (MMVs) carrying goods from Jakheni in Udhampur towards Srinagar will remain prohibited on both days.

No goods carriers will be allowed to proceed from Jakheni towards Ramban, Banihal and Srinagar, or from Qazigund towards Banihal, Ramban and Udhampur, after 2 am on October 31 and November 1.

The restrictions will take effect during the intervening nights of October 30-31 and October 31-November 1, respectively.

However, downward movement of heavy motor vehicles from Qazigund towards Jammu will be allowed in a regulated manner.

Operators of goods carriers transporting fresh and perishable goods and livestock have been advised to plan loading and movement of their vehicles accordingly, keeping the restrictions in view.
