Suri stressed the need to understand challenges at the institutional level to develop responsive policies and improve the functioning of higher education institutions. She said principals played a key role not only in administration but also in academic leadership, faculty guidance and student development.

She called for strengthening the leadership capacities of principals and ensuring that student grievances received due attention. She also emphasised the implementation of effective mentorship programmes across colleges to provide students with appropriate academic guidance and support.

The Director Colleges highlighted the need to promote innovation, research and skill development to make students better prepared for employment and industry requirements, in line with the objectives of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.

During the interactive session, principals shared their experiences and highlighted challenges related to academic functioning, administration and infrastructure in their respective institutions.

Suri assured them that the issues raised would be taken up for appropriate redressal, stressing the importance of coordination and continued engagement among stakeholders to strengthen higher education in the Kashmir division.
