JAMMU: Three players from the Khelo India Soft Tennis Centre in Jammu and Kashmir — Sidhani Singh, Shreemai Bhatt and Madhvender Singh Sambyal — have been selected to represent India at the World Soft Tennis Championship, scheduled to be held in China from October 26 to 31.
The selection was made by the Amateur Soft Tennis Federation of India on the recommendation of the Jammu and Kashmir Amateur Soft Tennis Association.
All three players have won medals at various national-level championships, earning recognition for Jammu and Kashmir through their performances. Their selection for the international championship follows years of training, consistent performances and competitive achievements.
Bhatt and Sambyal recently won medals at the Junior National Soft Tennis Championship held in Srinagar. Bhatt secured two bronze medals, while Sambyal won one bronze medal, adding to their achievements at the national level.
The players have trained under the guidance of Indu Bhushan, whose coaching and mentorship have contributed to their development and preparation for national and international competitions.
Their selection is a significant achievement for the Khelo India Soft Tennis Centre and Jammu and Kashmir, highlighting the role of structured training in developing young sporting talent. The Khelo India initiative aims to support emerging athletes and provide them with opportunities to compete at higher levels.
The three players’ participation in the world championship is also expected to encourage aspiring soft tennis players in the Union Territory to pursue the sport and compete at national and international levels.
