MLA Gulmarg attends school function, reviews development works

Kunzer: MLA Gulmarg Farooq Ahmad Shah on Thursday attended the annual day programme, Dastak, at Government Higher Secondary School Kunzer, where he inaugurated the Shahid Farooq Memorial Garden and released the school magazine Parwaz.

During the event, Shah distributed certificates among the top five position holders of the school and congratulated them on their academic achievements. Interacting with students, teachers and parents, he highlighted the role of education in shaping responsible citizens and stressed the importance of moral values alongside academic learning.

He said schools should focus on imparting discipline, responsibility and compassion among students and underscored the need to prepare them for emerging opportunities and challenges posed by advances in artificial intelligence and technology.

The MLA said efforts were underway to establish a modern ITC laboratory and upgrade the Tourism Laboratory at the institution. He also highlighted educational proposals for the constituency, including the establishment of three girls’ higher secondary schools and a women’s degree college.

Shah appreciated the students for their participation in the programme and commended the teaching staff and school management for organising the event.

Later, he inspected the construction of a new school building at Mughalpora being built at an estimated cost of ₹43 lakh and reviewed the progress of various ongoing developmental works in Gulmarg. He directed officials to ensure timely completion and quality execution of the projects.
