PIB holds cleanliness drive, honours sanitation workers

New Delhi: The Press Information Bureau (PIB) organised a series of activities at the National Media Centre (NMC) as part of the Swachhta Hi Seva 2026 campaign, including a cleanliness drive, a tree plantation programme and a felicitation ceremony for sanitation workers.

According to an official statement, a tree plantation drive was conducted on September 30 under the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ initiative to promote environmental sustainability and increase green cover. The programme focused on encouraging public participation in environmental conservation and highlighting the importance of tree preservation.

On Thursday, PIB organised a cleanliness drive under the ‘Ek Din, Ek Ghanta, Ek Saath’ initiative. The drive covered the NMC premises and saw participation from officers and staff aimed at promoting cleanliness and hygiene in the workplace.

A felicitation ceremony for Safai Mitras, Swachhagrahis and sanitation workers was also held at the venue to recognise their contribution towards maintaining cleanliness and sanitation.

The activities were led by Principal Director General, PIB, and attended by officers and officials of the organisation.

PIB said the programmes were organised as part of the Swachhta Hi Seva 2026 campaign to promote cleanliness, environmental responsibility and public participation in sanitation initiatives.
