SRINAGAR: Srinagar Traffic Police has issued a traffic advisory for October 1 in view of the “Run for Unity” Kashmir Marathon-2026, with traffic movement on a major stretch of Boulevard Road set to remain restricted for five hours.
According to the advisory, the marathon will be held from Police Golf Course Lake View to Duck Park and back, and is expected to witness participation from people from different walks of life along with several dignitaries.
Traffic movement on Boulevard Road from Lalit Ghat to Habbak will remain restricted from 6 am to 11 am on October 1. Vehicles travelling from R.M. Bagh towards Gupkar and Lalit will be diverted through the Badyari-Dalgate route. No traffic, except marathon participants, will be allowed on Gupkar Road until the event concludes.
Motorists travelling towards Nishat, Shalimar and Harwan have been advised to use the Dalgate-Rainawari-Hazratbal-Zakoora-Burzahama-Tailbal-Chandpora-Shalimar route instead of the Boulevard Road axis.
Similarly, commuters travelling from Harwan, Shalimar and Nishat towards Lal Chowk have been asked to use the Shalimar-Chandpora-Tailbal-Burzahama-Zakoora-Hazratbal route.
Traffic Police also advised motorists travelling from Gulab Bagh, Zakoora, Naseembagh, Habbak and adjoining areas to use the Habbak-Dargah-Rainawari route to reach Lal Chowk instead of Foreshore Road.
Participants have been directed to park their vehicles only at designated parking areas at Zabarwan Park and the Botanical Garden. Police warned that vehicles parked along roadsides would be towed away.
Emergency vehicles, however, will be allowed to use the shortest available route, the advisory said.
