SRINAGAR: Police have arrested five drug peddlers in Shopian, Kulgam & Anantnag and recovered contraband substances from their possession.
A police spokesperson informed that one Feroz Ahmad Wani of Batamuran was arrested at Matipora Bridge in Shopian after 13.2 Kgs of Ganja-like (Marijuana) substance and four grams of cannabis-like substance were recovered from him.
In Kulgam, police recovered 10 grams of heroin-like substance from a bag kept inside the dashboard cabinet of a cab (JK01T-4963) following which the driver, identified as Asif Shafi Bhat of Gund Chadoora, Budgam, was arrested.
At Khandipairi, a person identified as Ali, resident of JJ Colony, Delhi, at present Pazalpora, Bijbehara, was apprehended with six grams of heroin-like substance.
In Anantnag, police arrested Aamir Yousuf Khan @ Vicky Gadar, resident of Hazratbal, after7.68 grams of cannabis-like substance was recovered from his possession.
Police during checking at Aung Bridge, apprehended Tariq Ahmad Khanday, resident of Aung, after 10 grams of cannabis-like substance was recovered from his possession.
Cases have been registered in all these instances for further investigation.
