AWANTIPORA: The Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST), in collaboration with the Jammu and Kashmir Science, Technology and Innovation Council (JKSTIC), will host the Jammu and Kashmir Science Congress 2026 from September 29 to October 1 at its main campus in Awantipora.
Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, who is also Chancellor of IUST, is scheduled to inaugurate the three-day event on September 29.
The Congress is being organised under the theme, “Science, Innovations and Emerging Technologies for Sustainable and Viksit J&K,” and will bring together scientists, academicians, researchers, innovators, policymakers, industry representatives and students from across the region and beyond.
According to organisers, the event will feature 26 technical sessions, five plenary sessions, invited lectures and discussions focusing on the role of science, technology and innovation in addressing regional challenges and promoting sustainable development.
The programme will cover a wide range of subjects, including artificial intelligence, quantum science, nanotechnology, biotechnology, healthcare, sustainable energy, climate and environmental sciences, water resources, biodiversity, disaster resilience, innovation and entrepreneurship, and smart engineering systems.
Special sessions have also been planned on the application of science and technology in sectors such as food processing and tourism.
A School Students’ Science Programme, including activities organised in collaboration with the National Children’s Science Congress, will be held to encourage scientific temper and innovation among young learners.
The Congress will also include cultural and outreach programmes aimed at strengthening interaction among academia, industry, policymakers and the wider community.
