KUPWARA: Lolab Panthers clinched the Keran Mela 2026 Cricket Trophy after defeating Sarhad Keran in the tournament final as sports events marked the 15th day of the ongoing Keran Mela in Kupwara district on Sunday.
The day’s activities, organised by the District Administration Kupwara and the Indian Army, also featured a 10-kilometre “Run for Fun” that attracted hundreds of participants and spectators from across the Keran Bowl and other parts of Jammu and Kashmir.
The run was flagged off from Kundian and concluded at the Rooh-e-Hind Flag Site in Keran. Participants, including local youth, senior citizens and runners from outside the area, completed the 10-kilometre route.
Officials said participants were recognised in Under-30 and Over-30 categories, with prizes awarded to those securing first, second and third positions. More than 100 participants received certificates of appreciation.
The cricket final between Sarhad Keran and Lolab Panthers drew a large crowd, with Lolab Panthers emerging victorious to lift the trophy.
Additional Commissioner Revenue (ACR) Kupwara, Peerzada Mumtaz Ahmad, along with other officials, presented trophies and medals to the winning teams and participants.
Organisers said the sporting events were aimed at promoting youth engagement, fitness and community participation in the border region. Keran Mela 2026 features a series of cultural and sporting activities intended to provide a platform for local talent and encourage community interaction.
