SRINAGAR: Police arrested three drug peddlers in Anantnag while two more were arrested in the neighbouring Pulwama district.
A police spokesperson informed that two persons — Som Sarthi and Chotu Bariya, both residents of Chhattisgarh, presently staying at Guree, Bijbehara, were arrested at Darashikwa Crossing, Bijbehara after 74.6 grams of cannabis-like substance in stick form was recovered from their possession.
One, Aijaz Ahmad Wani of Anchidoora was arrested at Bus Stand Crossing after 10 grams of cannabis -like substance was recovered from his possession.
In Pulwama, two persons — Anees Ul Islam of Lajoora, and Margoob Nazir of Puchal – were arrested near Dairy Farm, Puchal, after their personal search yielded 13.5 grams and 20 grams of cannabis-like substance respectively.
Cases under the NDPS Act have been registered at concerned police stations for further investigation, police said.
