SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir government has approved free travel for differently-abled persons on public transport services operated by the Jammu and Kashmir Road Transport Corporation (JKRTC) and e-buses run by the Srinagar and Jammu Smart City projects.
The decision implements a budget announcement made by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah during the presentation of the 2026-27 Budget in March.
According to the government, the facility will be available on JKRTC buses as well as e-buses operated by Jammu Smart City Limited and Srinagar Smart City Limited.
Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said the measure was aimed at improving accessibility and mobility for differently-abled persons and formed part of the government’s efforts towards inclusive public services.
The government said the initiative is expected to make public transport more accessible and facilitate easier travel for persons with disabilities across Jammu and Kashmir.
