NEW DELHI: In a move aimed at enhancing passenger convenience, Northern Railway’s Delhi Division has introduced a digital locker facility at four major railway stations—New Delhi (NDLS), Hazrat Nizamuddin (NZM), Delhi Junction (DLI) and Anand Vihar Terminal (ANVT).

The facility, launched as part of a new commercial initiative, allows passengers to store their luggage securely for a specified duration using an OTP-based digital access system. The service is expected to benefit tourists, passengers with long layovers and those travelling with heavy baggage.

According to railway officials, passengers can deposit their luggage by entering their mobile number, verifying an OTP, selecting the locker size and duration, making a digital payment and placing their belongings inside the locker. Retrieval follows a similar process through OTP verification and the “release” option.

Payments can be made through digital platforms such as Google Pay, Paytm, PhonePe and other online payment modes.

Officials said the lockers have been installed at locations selected with due consideration to passenger accessibility, security and efficient use of available space.

The facility has already become operational at New Delhi and Hazrat Nizamuddin railway stations, while services at Delhi Junction and Anand Vihar Terminal are expected to commence shortly.

At New Delhi Railway Station, the digital luggage lockers are located in the main hall near Platform No. 16, below the digital display board. At Hazrat Nizamuddin Railway Station, the facility has been installed near the main entrance gate adjacent to the staircase.

Lockers are available in multiple sizes, including mini, small, medium, large and extra-large, enabling passengers to choose storage options according to their luggage requirements.

Railway authorities said the digital locker service will be available round the clock, seven days a week, at the stations where it has been operationalised.

Officials described the initiative as another step towards providing modern, secure and technology-driven passenger amenities while improving the overall travel experience on the Delhi Division network.
