According to eyewitnesses, one of the vehicle’s tyres burst, causing the driver to lose control, following which the passenger vehicle overturned.

A 48-year-old man was found dead on the spot, while six others were taken to a hospital, where one of the critically injured, aged around 35, succumbed to the injuries, the officials said.

They said two other critically injured persons were referred to Government Medical College (GMC) Hospital, Jammu, for specialised treatment.

Meanwhile, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and Chief Minister Amar Abdullah have expressed grief over the tragic road accident.

In a condolence message, the LG said: “Deeply pained to learn about the loss of precious lives in a tragic road accident in Reasi. My deepest condolences to the bereaved families. Praying for speedy recovery of the injured.”

The Chief Minister also conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and directed the authorities to ensure the best possible medical care to those injured.
