SRINAGAR: The Gulmarg Gondola, one of Kashmir’s major tourist attractions, will remain closed from September 14 to 17 for its annual inspection and maintenance exercise, officials said on Sunday.
Managing Director of the Gulmarg Cable Car Corporation, Qamar Sajjad, said the temporary suspension of services was part of routine safety checks and maintenance aimed at ensuring the safe and smooth operation of the cable car system.
He advised tourists planning to visit Gulmarg during the period to take note of the closure while finalising their travel plans.
Officials said the annual inspection is a standard procedure carried out to maintain operational safety and reliability of the gondola service.
The authorities expressed regret for any inconvenience caused to visitors.
The Gulmarg Gondola is among the highest operating cable car systems in the world and is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Jammu and Kashmir.
