Jammu: Three persons were killed and three others injured in two separate road accidents reported from Kathua and Reasi districts on Friday.
In Kathua’s Sarthal area of Bani tehsil, two persons were killed and three others injured after a vehicle carrying five passengers met with an accident. Officials said the injured were shifted to Bani Hospital for treatment.
Union Minister of State Jitendra Singh said he spoke to Deputy Commissioner Kathua Rajesh Sharma after being informed about the accident by Bani MLA Dalip Singh Parihar. In a post on X, Singh said three injured passengers had been admitted to Bani Hospital, while two persons lost their lives in the mishap.
He said appropriate medical assistance was being provided to the injured and expressed condolences to the bereaved families, adding that his office was in constant touch with the district administration. The deceased and injured are believed to be residents of Bhaderwah in Doda district, though their identities were yet to be officially confirmed.
Meanwhile, in Reasi district, a 32-year-old man was killed after a tractor-trolley carrying stones rolled off a road and plunged nearly 140 to 150 feet into a gorge in the Fulkote Baggodass area of Chassana.
Officials said the vehicle was engaged in work related to a PMGSY road project when the accident occurred. The deceased was identified as Javed Ahmed (32), son of Ali Mohammad and a resident of Manjikote, Chassana, Mahore.
Police have taken cognisance of both incidents and initiated further investigations.
