SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir is likely to witness predominantly dry weather over the next 10 days, with only brief spells of rain or thundershowers expected at isolated and scattered places, according to the Meteorological Centre Srinagar.
The weather department said conditions are expected to remain generally dry on September 12 and 13, although isolated areas may receive brief showers.
From September 14 to 16, scattered places across the Union Territory could experience brief spells of rain or thundershowers, mainly during the early morning and forenoon hours.
The department has forecast largely dry weather again from September 17 to 21, with only isolated locations likely to receive brief rainfall.
In its advisory, the Meteorological Department said farmers could continue harvesting apples, paddy and carrying out other agricultural activities during the period.
Meanwhile, temperatures remained above normal across several parts of Jammu and Kashmir on Friday.
Srinagar recorded a maximum temperature of 33.2 degrees Celsius, five degrees above normal, while the minimum temperature settled at 16.4 degrees Celsius, two degrees above normal.
Qazigund recorded a maximum of 30.2 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 13.5 degrees Celsius. Pahalgam registered 27.8 degrees Celsius as the maximum and 10.4 degrees Celsius as the minimum.
In north Kashmir, Kupwara recorded a maximum temperature of 32.9 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 13.4 degrees Celsius. Kokernag recorded 30.6 degrees Celsius and 14.8 degrees Celsius, respectively, while Gulmarg registered a maximum of 24 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 10.6 degrees Celsius.
Jammu city recorded a maximum temperature of 34.3 degrees Celsius, 1.4 degrees above normal, while the minimum temperature settled at 25.4 degrees Celsius.
Other stations recorded maximum temperatures of 28.6 degrees Celsius in Banihal, 27.7 degrees Celsius in Batote, 31 degrees Celsius in Katra and 29.9 degrees Celsius in Bhaderwah.
The Meteorological Department said no significant rainfall was recorded at the monitored stations during the 24-hour period ending at 8:30 am on Friday.
