SRINAGAR: The Apni Party on Friday announced a series of public conventions across Srinagar to highlight civic, developmental and employment-related issues affecting residents of the city.
The decision was taken at a meeting chaired by Apni Party President Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari and attended by party leaders and workers from different parts of Srinagar.
According to the party, participants discussed what they described as infrastructure deficiencies, developmental shortcomings and public grievances in the city. Concerns were also raised over unemployment and limited livelihood opportunities for young people.
Party leaders alleged that inadequate employment opportunities, challenges faced by the artisan community and the operation of taxis from outside Jammu and Kashmir were affecting local livelihoods. They also claimed that several areas of Srinagar continued to face deficiencies in basic amenities, including power and water supply.
The meeting further discussed tourism-related infrastructure and the need for facilities that could help strengthen the local economy.
The party criticised the government’s handling of these issues and alleged that adequate measures had not been taken to address public concerns in Srinagar. These claims could not be independently verified.
Following the discussions, the party decided to organise public conventions across the city to provide residents a platform to raise local issues and grievances.
According to the party, the first convention will be held at Chinar Colony, Parraypora, on September 20, followed by another at Natipora-Rambagh on September 27. Similar programmes are planned in other Srinagar constituencies in the coming weeks.
Party leaders said local residents would be invited to participate and highlight issues affecting their areas, with the aim of drawing attention to civic and developmental concerns.
