SRINAGAR: A 13-member media delegation from Kerala has begun a seven-day press tour of Jammu and Kashmir aimed at providing journalists with first-hand exposure to developmental initiatives, infrastructure projects and other activities in the Union Territory.
The tour, organised by the Press Information Bureau (PIB), Kochi, is being held from September 6 to 12.
On the first day of the visit, the delegation toured the Press Information Bureau office in Srinagar, where Director PIB Srinagar Quazi Salman welcomed the journalists and briefed them on the media and communication landscape in Kashmir. He also interacted with the visiting journalists and shared information about the functioning of the bureau in the region.
Later, the delegation visited Gulmarg in Baramulla district and toured the hill resort known for its scenic landscape.
During the week-long programme, the journalists will visit various developmental projects and important locations across Jammu and Kashmir and interact with stakeholders associated with these initiatives.
According to PIB, the tour is intended to provide participating journalists with greater exposure to developmental activities in the Union Territory and facilitate informed reporting on projects and initiatives being implemented in the region.
