Jammu: The BJP’s Jammu and Kashmir unit on Sunday announced a public outreach programme from September 7 to 20 to highlight public grievances and the alleged failures of the National Conference (NC)-led government in the Union Territory.

A party spokesperson said during a BJP MLAs’ meet at its headquarters here, the party decided that legislators, led by Leader of Opposition Sunil Sharma, would undertake door-to-door visits across all administrative districts to personally listen to the people’s problems, grievances and aspirations.

He said J&K BJP president and Rajya Sabha MP Sat Sharma presided over the meeting.

He said the LoP will commence the tour from the border district of Poonch on September 7.

“The initiative reflects the BJP’s commitment to remain connected with the people and act as their voice inside and outside the Assembly,” the J&K BJP president said.

He alleged the NC government failed to meet public expectations and did not honour the promises made during the Assembly elections. “The people of J&K will not be left to suffer because of the failures and broken promises of the NC government. BJP MLAs will reach every district, listen to the people and relentlessly raise their genuine issues in the forthcoming Assembly,” he said.

The LoP said the BJP will transform its role as a responsible opposition into a powerful instrument for public accountability. He said the district-wide tour will provide first-hand information about the people’s hardships and enable BJP MLAs to raise these issues in the Assembly.

“We will not sit in offices and make assumptions. We will go to every doorstep, hear the people and expose the failures of the NC government on the ground,” he asserted.
