Jammu: The Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs (FCS&CA) Department on Sunday conducted a market inspection in Trikuta Nagar and adjoining areas of Jammu, during which notices were issued to several traders for alleged violations related to consumer protection and Legal Metrology norms.

During the drive, the team inspected shops and commercial establishments dealing in consumer goods to verify compliance with mandatory provisions such as display of Maximum Retail Price (MRP), product expiry dates, price declarations and other regulatory requirements.

Officials said some establishments were found lacking proper MRP display, while expired products were detected at certain shops. Notices were served to the concerned traders, and further action would be taken in accordance with applicable rules and regulations.

The inspection was conducted on the directions of Director FCS&CA Rajesh Kumar Shavan as part of the department’s ongoing efforts to enforce consumer protection and fair trade regulations.

Officials said similar inspection drives would continue across Jammu to ensure compliance with norms relating to pricing, quality standards, expiry dates and consumer rights.

The department also advised consumers to verify MRP labels and expiry dates before making purchases and report cases of overcharging, sale of expired products or other consumer-related violations to the authorities.
