Rajouri: Mohd Ayaz Raina, a Botany lecturer at Government Higher Secondary School Dalhori in Rajouri district, has been selected for the National Award to Teachers 2026.
Raina is the only teacher from Jammu and Kashmir to be chosen for the award this year. The award will be conferred on September 5 on the occasion of Teachers’ Day.
The recognition comes after 13 years of service in the education sector. Reacting to the selection, Raina said the honour reflected the collective efforts of his students, colleagues, educational institutions and family members who supported him throughout his career.
Raina has previously received several honours, including the National ICT Award 2017, the Jammu and Kashmir Best Teacher Award 2021, the Global Teacher Award 2021 and the Global Best Educational Poster Award 2020.
His selection has been welcomed by the education fraternity in Rajouri and Jammu and Kashmir, with many describing it as recognition of the contribution of teachers working in remote areas.
