BUDGAM: Authorities have reopened Doodhpathri, a major tourist destination in central Kashmir’s Budgam district, after its temporary closure due to adverse weather conditions and the risk of flash floods and landslides.
The tourist spot had been closed last month amid continuous rainfall and concerns over flash floods and landslides, particularly along approach roads.
Local traders, pony operators, cab drivers, food stall owners and other stakeholders welcomed the decision, saying the reopening would help restore their livelihoods.
“We are happy that Doodhpathri has reopened. Tourism is our main source of livelihood, and the return of visitors will provide much-needed relief to local families,” several locals said.
With weather conditions improving, authorities have allowed tourists to visit the destination again, bringing relief to the local tourism sector and businesses dependent on visitor footfall. (KNO)
