SRINAGAR/SHOPIAN: Two persons were killed and a woman injured in separate road accidents reported from Shopian and Srinagar on Tuesday.

In Shopian, a woman died while her son sustained minor injuries after a scooty skidded off the road at Amerbugh in the Imamsahib area.

The deceased was identified as Saja Banoo, wife of Ghulam Qadir Naikoo and a resident of Kharwara. She was travelling as a pillion rider on a scooty driven by her son, Shakeel Ahmad Naikoo. Reports said the scooty skidded off the road, resulting in the accident. Saja Banoo died on the spot, while her son suffered minor injuries.

In another accident, a scooty rider was killed after his two-wheeler collided with a truck at Fruit Mandi Parimpora in Srinagar.

The deceased was identified as Muhammad Anwar Magray, son of Muhammad Abdullah Magray and a resident of Kilwar, Tangmarg. He was shifted to a nearby hospital after the accident, where doctors declared him brought dead.

Meanwhile, a woman was injured after a Honda City car collided with a dumper near Government Medical College, Sempora, on the Srinagar–Anantnag highway.

The injured woman was shifted to Kashmir Medical College, Sempora, for treatment. The Honda City sustained damage in the collision.

Police have taken cognisance of the incidents and initiated further investigation. (KNT)
