Srinagar: Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Anshul Garg on Monday reviewed arrangements for the first International Film Festival of Jammu and Kashmir (IFFJK), scheduled to be held from September 7 to 10.

The meeting reviewed the festival programme and inter-departmental coordination required for the event, which is being organised by the Department of Information and Public Relations (DIPR), Jammu and Kashmir.

Director Information and Public Relations Shreya Singhal gave a presentation on the festival’s objectives and planned activities, including opening and closing ceremonies, film screenings, masterclasses, panel discussions, filmmaker interactions, film tourism initiatives, networking sessions and programmes for students and young filmmakers.

Garg directed all participating departments to designate nodal officers to ensure effective coordination and smooth execution of festival-related activities. He also asked the Director Information and Public Relations to prepare a detailed work chart specifying responsibilities and timelines for the event manager and concerned departments.

Reviewing tourism-related arrangements, the Divisional Commissioner directed the Tourism Department to promote emerging tourist destinations and undertake branding initiatives aimed at attracting filmmakers and visitors. He also called for branding of shikaras and boats to be used during the festival.

Garg stressed the inclusion of cultural programmes and the display of Kashmir’s handloom and handicraft products at festival venues. He also directed officials to ensure suitable hospitality arrangements, including food options for national and international guests and the deployment of bilingual service providers.

The meeting also reviewed plans for heritage tours, customised travel packages, sightseeing programmes and transportation arrangements for visiting delegates and guests.

Directions were issued to officials of the Airport Authority, district administrations of Srinagar and Baramulla, Srinagar Municipal Corporation, Kashmir Power Distribution Corporation Limited (KPDCL), Floriculture Department, Transport Department, Health Department, Lakes Conservation and Management Authority (LCMA), Airports Authority of India, Handicrafts and Handloom Department, Hospitality and Protocol Department, Education Department and Police regarding their responsibilities during the event.

Among those present were the Deputy Commissioners of Srinagar and Baramulla, Commissioner Srinagar Municipal Corporation, Director Information and Public Relations, Director Floriculture, Director Airport, Managing Director KPDCL, Vice-Chairman LCMA and other senior officers.
