Srinagar: A divisional-level patriotic singing and painting competition concluded at Government College of Education (GCoE), M.A. Road, Srinagar, on Friday as part of the celebrations marking the 80th Independence Day.
Students from schools and colleges across the Kashmir division participated in the event, which culminated in a valedictory function attended by Deputy Commissioner Srinagar Akshay Labroo.
Addressing the gathering, the Deputy Commissioner urged students to use their skills, knowledge and creativity for the betterment of society and emphasised the role of youth in nation-building. He encouraged them to pursue excellence while remaining committed to social responsibility and civic duties.
Nodal Principal Colleges Kashmir Division Prof. (Dr.) Seema Naz highlighted the importance of organising such programmes in the run-up to Independence Day.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Srinagar Aadil Fareed, IAS Probationer Alfred Thomas, principals of various colleges, faculty members and students were also present.
Winners of the singing and painting competitions were felicitated with prizes and certificates during the programme, which also featured cultural performances by students.
