SRINAGAR: The Department of Information and Public Relations (DIPR) on Thursday announced the IFFJK Emerging Filmmakers Competition 2026, inviting aspiring filmmakers from Jammu and Kashmir to submit original short films as part of the inaugural International Film Festival of Jammu and Kashmir (IFFJK).
According to the department, registrations for the competition opened on August 6, while the last date for submission of entries is August 26, 2026.
The competition is exclusively open to filmmakers who possess a valid Jammu and Kashmir domicile certificate and are between 18 and 39 years of age as on September 1, 2026.
Participants have been asked to submit original short films with a maximum duration of five minutes.
The competition will be held under the theme “Rang-e-Cinema: Frames of a New Jammu & Kashmir”, with the objective of encouraging young filmmakers to portray the region’s evolving cultural, social and creative narratives through cinema.
According to DIPR, the initiative is aimed at providing emerging filmmakers with a platform to showcase their storytelling, cinematic vision and technical skills while contributing to the growth of the region’s film ecosystem.
