DDC Bandipora distributes 500 solar lights

BANDIPORA, AUGUST 03: District Development Commissioner (DDC), Bandipora, Dr. Shahid Iqbal Choudhary today distributed 500 solar lights among the residents of village Kudara, at a distribution function held here. Cost of per solar light is Rs.6700.

Chief Planning Officer Abdul Majeed, Assistant Director Food Fayaz Ahmad Shah, Senior Technical Officer JAKEDA Kashmir division, Rabia Noor, BDO Bandipora Riyaz Hussain Wani,Tehsildar Bandipora Mubashir Nazki and other concerned officers were present on the occasion.

The DDC said that the solar home lights are being distributed free of cost by the government to the un-electrified villages. He said like Kudara solar lights will also be distributed in other un-electrified villages including far off areas of Gurez in phased manner.  He said another list of 120 families was also finalized for provision of solar lights, adding that a total of 34 villages will be covered in the district under a special drive in convergence of various schemes.

The DDC informed that all educational institutions and hospitals in uncovered areas will also be provided solar lights shortly and departments have been asked to recommend priority list of such institutions.
