SRINAGAR, AUGUST 03: Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Baseer Ahmad Khan, Friday directed all Deputy Commissioners of the division to start an intense drive on daily basis to remove all encroachments on roads, National Highway (NH), State and Kahcharai land.

The Divisional Commissioner was reviewing the progress made, so far, with regard to removal of encroachments on State and Kahcharai land at a meeting held here today.

The DCs informed the Div Com about progress on the removal of encroachments on National Highway (NH), State & Kahcharai lands in their respective jurisdictions.

During the meeting, the Divisional Commissioner impressed upon the concerned to implement the anti-encroachment drive in letter and spirit and initiate action against the violators as per the law.

He directed SMC, SDA, LAWDA and R&B to start intense demolition drive to remove illegal constructions and encroachments across the city as well as in the Dal Lake area, Jhelum river and other water bodies.

Khan directed police to provide adequate security to the demolition-squads, besides DC Srinagar will provide magistrates along with the squad on daily basis.

Deputy Commissioner Srinagar Dr Syed Abid Rashid Shah, Deputy Commissioner Bandipora Dr Shahid Iqbal Chowdhary, Commissioner SMC, VC SDA, VC LAWDA, Chief Engineer R&B, Project Director NHAI, and other concerned officers attended the meeting, whereas other Deputy Commissioners participated in the meeting via video conferencing.
