Srinagar: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Monday congratulated Jammu and Kashmir mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter Owais Yaqoob on his victory at BRAVE Combat Federation (BRAVE CF) 107 in Bulgaria, where he defeated previously unbeaten two-time International Mixed Martial Arts Federation (IMMAF) world champion Delyan Georgiev.
In a statement, the Chief Minister described the victory as a proud moment for Jammu and Kashmir and the country, and said Owais had brought international recognition to the region through his performance on the global stage.
“Heartiest congratulations to Owais Yaqoob on this remarkable achievement. Defeating an unbeaten two-time IMMAF World Champion at BRAVE CF 107 is an extraordinary feat and a testament to his hard work, dedication and exceptional talent,” Abdullah said.
He said Owais’ achievement would inspire young sportspersons across Jammu and Kashmir to pursue excellence and realise their potential.
The Chief Minister wished the Pulwama fighter continued success in his career and expressed confidence that he would bring more laurels to Jammu and Kashmir and the country in the years ahead.
