State subject law is matter of life and death: Malik

Srinagar: Chairman Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) Muhammad Yasin Malik today said that any anti-Kashmir verdict from Indian Supreme Court will meet a full-fledged agitation from Kashmiris.

While addressing a protest rally, that was taken out in support of Article 35 A of Indian Constitution, at Lal Chowk Bund, Malik said that the state subject law and defending it is a matter of life and death for the people of Jammu Kashmir and no Kashmiri will sit silent on its abrogation or waning.

A spokesman of JKLF in a statement said that on JRL call, JKLF activists and leaders today staged protests at Budshah Chowk Lal Chowk and the Bund Lal Chowk. JKLF chairman Muhammad Yasin Malik addressed people at Masjid Bilal (The Bund) after which he led protesters at the bund. Holding placards against proposed abrogation of the state subject law and in favor of freedom, Protesters raised enthusiastic slogans on the occasion. JKLF chairman Muhammad Yasin Malik addressed the gathering which comprised of people from different walks of life.

Meanwhile, All Parties Hurriyat Conference G leaders too held a protest at Hyderpora Chowk Srinagar favouring Article 35 A of Indian cinstitution.

A spokesman in a statement said that the protest was led by Secretary General Haji Gh. Nabi Sumji.

The leaders expressed satisfaction on the solidarity shown by the institutions belonging to all walks of life over the issue.

Forwarding its full support to the general strike call given by JRL on 5-6 August, Hurriyat leaders pledged to make it a grand success and a launching pad for initiating a peoples movement in the near future.
