Baramulla: Police have registered a Zero FIR after the Naib Tehsildar, Wagoora, sought an investigation into the alleged submission of forged revenue records for obtaining a bank loan, officials said on Thursday.
According to official documents, the Office of the Naib Tehsildar, Wagoora, received a communication from the J&K Bank Business Unit, Khaitangan, seeking verification of land records submitted by Manzoor Ahmad Shah of Takiya Wagoora in support of a loan application.
During verification, revenue extracts (Girdawari) and other land-related documents were found to be prima facie suspicious. The Naib Tehsildar observed that the signatures and official seals on the documents appeared to have been fabricated, prompting further inquiry.
According to the official communication, Manzoor Ahmad Shah, when questioned, allegedly told revenue officials that the documents had been provided to him by Tariq Ahmad of Takiya Wagoora. Tariq Ahmad was subsequently questioned and allegedly stated that he had received the documents from Maqsood Ahmad of Sangri, Baramulla.
In his communication to police, the Naib Tehsildar said the matter required a detailed investigation to establish the origin of the allegedly forged documents, identify all those involved and take action under the relevant provisions of law.
The communication was forwarded to the Station House Officer, Police Station Kreeri, with copies marked to the Deputy Commissioner, Senior Superintendent of Police, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Assistant Commissioner Revenue and Sub-Divisional Police Officer concerned.
Police have since registered a Zero FIR and initiated an investigation to verify the authenticity of the documents and examine whether an attempt was made to fraudulently secure a bank loan using forged revenue records.
Officials said the investigation will also determine whether the case is linked to a larger network involved in the preparation and circulation of fake revenue documents. No arrests have been made so far, and further investigation is underway.
