“The summer vacation will not be extended any further. Schools will reopen tomorrow, as scheduled,” a senior official said.

The government had declared summer vacations for schools in the Kashmir division and winter zones of Jammu division from July 6 to July 19. The break was first extended till July 22 due to the prevailing heat wave and forecasts of continued high temperatures.

Later, the authorities announced another extension till July 26 after the Meteorological Department warned of heavy rainfall, flash floods, and adverse weather conditions across the region.

With the weather showing significant improvement over the past two days, the government has decided to resume normal class work from Monday, bringing an end to the extended summer break.
