Srinagar: The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) Kashmir of the Crime Branch has filed a chargesheet against three persons for allegedly duping job aspirants of ₹23 lakh on the pretext of providing government jobs.
The chargesheet in FIR No. 01/2026, registered under Sections 420, 467, 468, 471 and 120-B of the Ranbir Penal Code (RPC), was filed before the Court of the Chief Judicial Magistrate, Srinagar, officials said.
The accused have been identified as Ghulam Mohd Sheikh alias Gulzar of Palpora Pamposh Colony, Noor Bagh, Srinagar; Mohd Yousuf Wani of Kunzer, Baramulla; and Mohd Abdullah Mir of Shivath, Sumbal, in Bandipora district.
According to the Crime Branch, the case was registered following a written complaint alleging that Ghulam Mohd Sheikh had collected ₹23 lakh from the complainants by falsely promising to secure government jobs for them.
During the investigation, the accused allegedly issued forged appointment orders, identity cards, licences, appointment letters and fake police and Criminal Investigation Department (CID) verification documents to make the appointments appear genuine.
The investigation, according to the EOW, established that the three accused had allegedly acted in connivance to deceive the complainants and fraudulently obtain their money. After completion of the investigation, the Crime Branch filed the chargesheet before the court.
