Ganderbal: Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal Jatin Kishore on Saturday visited the Baltal Base Camp to review arrangements for the ongoing Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra (SANJY)-2026 amid prevailing inclement weather and assess the preparedness of stakeholder departments to ensure the safety and convenience of pilgrims.
During the visit, the Deputy Commissioner inspected the on-the-spot registration centre, Yatri Niwas, accommodation facilities, medical aid centres and other essential services at the base camp. He reviewed the functioning of various departments and directed the concerned officers to ensure that all facilities remain fully operational despite the adverse weather so that pilgrims do not face any inconvenience.
Kishore also interacted with pilgrims from different parts of the country to obtain first-hand feedback on the facilities being provided. He later met local shopkeepers, vendors and other service providers, emphasising that every stakeholder associated with the Yatra has a vital role in ensuring a safe and comfortable pilgrimage.
The Deputy Commissioner directed all concerned departments to remain on alert, maintain close coordination and ensure a prompt response to any exigency. He also instructed field officers to conduct regular inspections and maintain continuous monitoring for the smooth conduct of the pilgrimage.
Later, Kishore chaired a review meeting at Baltal to assess the preparedness of all stakeholder departments.
The meeting was informed about the weather forecast, condition of the Yatra track, accommodation facilities, registration arrangements, deployment of manpower and telecommunication systems.
Reviewing the arrangements department-wise, the Deputy Commissioner directed all agencies to maintain round-the-clock vigilance, strengthen inter-departmental coordination and ensure uninterrupted essential services for pilgrims. He stressed that all departments should remain fully prepared in view of the prevailing weather conditions and respond promptly to issues raised by Yatris.
The meeting was attended by the Camp Director, Baltal; Additional Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal; Camp Directors of Domail, Brarimarg and Lower Holy Cave; Executive Engineers of the Jal Shakti and Power Development departments; and officers from Beacon, Shri Amarnath Ji Shrine Board (SASB), Police, Health, Fire and Emergency Services, Rural Development Department and other line departments.
