Jammu: Leader of Opposition in the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly Sunil Sharma on Monday visited flood-affected areas of Poonch and Rajouri districts and urged the administration to expedite relief, rescue and rehabilitation measures.
Sharma, accompanied by a BJP delegation comprising former J&K BJP president Ravinder Raina, MLA Sham Lal Sharma, Dr Shehnaz Ganie, Gopal Mahajan, MLA Mohan Lal and Zorawar Singh, interacted with affected families and assessed the situation on the ground.
According to a party statement, Sharma listened to the grievances of the affected residents and expressed concern over the losses caused by the recent floods.
He directed the district administration to ensure that relief reaches affected families without delay and stressed the need for efficient rescue operations, restoration of essential services and a comprehensive rehabilitation plan.
Sharma said a detailed report on the damage and the relief requirements in Poonch and Rajouri would be submitted to the Central Government so that necessary assistance could be provided at the earliest.
He also said the concerns of the affected families would be taken up with the appropriate authorities and expressed confidence that all possible support would be sought through coordination with the Centre.
The BJP delegation reiterated its commitment to supporting the affected families and said it would continue to raise their concerns with the concerned authorities to ensure timely relief and rehabilitation.
